ABOUT ME

I was born in Port Jefferson, Long Island New York in 1960. My family is of European ancestry--Irish and French. I was the fifth out of seven children. Harold and Marie were our proud parents, and they won a few dance contests before we took up all their time. My wife, Liz, and I met while attending Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. I now teach school in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

In my early years as a musician, I found myself drumming and singing at house parties on Long Island. Tillucas and the Dixie Red Eye Band gave me a chance to explore original and cover tunes. After taking a bus out west, I joined several bands. Patty Lee and Just Us, Freedom,  Gone Fishin, and Three Quarter Till added to my musical diversity and imagination.

My interest in history and Political Science started to manifest itself in my writing and live shows. I co-founded "Durango Citizens Against Forced Relocation" and "Community Happens" while still in Durango. We did half-a-dozen fundraisers to support people in the Four Corners area.

Once in Albuquerque, I continued teaching, writing, and recording music. I hope you enjoy Absolutely Hutely: Dan and Hutely Meet the Minoans. The book and the CD are part of a trilogy that I'm currently working on. Dan and Hutely will soon discover the "Ways of China."

                                                         Sincerely, Dan Tilley
